Portrait: What makes the Cotswolds Dry Gin special

Imagine: rolling green hills, Stone cottages, sheep with more style than the average tourist - welcome to the Cotswolds. And right here, in this charming, picture-perfect region of England, a gin has been created since 2014 that's as British as afternoon tea in the rain: Cotswolds Dry Gin.

The distillery was practically born from a vacation dream - with the goal of bottling rural England. And the founders have succeeded. Instead of mass-produced goods, they focus on quality, craftsmanship, and a touch of British eccentricity. Cotswolds Gin is, so to speak, the bar butler with a wax jacket and Oxford diploma.

This gin needs only nine botanicals to make an impression – including the usual suspects like juniper, coriander, and angelica root. These are macerated in wheat spirit for 24 hours - sounds like a spa treatment for botanicals, but it's pure science. Then it's distilled, bottled, and proudly presented - without any fanfare, but with plenty of flavor.

Whether in a Negroni, with tonic, or neat in a carafe on a picnic table: Cotswolds Dry Gin brings country-house charm to your glass - without the need for wellies.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Cotswolds Dry Gin tastes like

  • Nose: Fresh citrus aromas, especially grapefruit and earthy coriander, with sweet juniper berries - followed by ground black pepper and lavender
  • Palate: clean with distinct notes of pine and juniper, followed by grapefruit and coriander - also pepper and dry notes of angelica root and eucalyptus - with lemon and lavender in the background
  • Finish: beautifully balanced with notes of juniper, lemon, and cardamom
