Profile: What Makes Turquoise Bay Amber Rum Special
Even the bottle label recalls turquoise sea and white sandy beach, the wonderful Turquoise Bay holiday bay on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. The word “Amber” stands for the dark amber colour of this premium rum.
It is blended from several excellent local rums that matured for up to eight years in ideal island conditions. The longer maturation in oak casks gives it colour and complex aromas and makes it pleasantly soft, harmonious and somewhat creamy.
A very aromatic rum from Mauritius, bottled in France, which can be enjoyed neat and on the rocks as well as mixed into cocktails and long drinks.
Tasting Notes: What Turquoise Bay Amber Rum Tastes Like
- Nose: Dried mango, rum-soaked cake, orange peel and baking spice; plus vanilla, caramelised sugar and gentle wood
- Palate: Light, soft and seamless, with fruit and caramel at the start; supple and buttery, ripe tropical fruit with subtle toasted nuts
