Profile: What Makes Glen Moray Sherry Cask Finish Special
Glen Moray first matures its whisky in American oak and then finishes it in oloroso sherry casks from Jerez. This edition spent eight months in the sherry casks. The result: intense oloroso notes and plenty of sweet vanilla. In the sample it is easy to get to know.
The distillery stands on the banks of the River Lossie in Elgin, the historic capital of Speyside. The former West Brewery of the Thorne family was converted into a distillery in 1897, and the first spirit ran on 13 September 1897. It later belonged to Glenmorangie and has been part of the French group La Martiniquaise since 2008.
