Tomintoul with a peaty Tang

Profile: The Tomintoul Peated at a glance

  • Tomintouls Peated Single Malt Whisky
  • Tomintoul: The gentle dram from Scotland's Speyside
  • Distilled with malted over peat fires Barley

Portrait: What makes the Tomintoul Peated special

It is considered one of the smoothest whiskies on Scottish Speyside: Tomintoul is equally popular with beginners and as a relaxed after-work drink. The single malt from the picturesque Cairngorms National Park has been produced using traditional methods since the distillery was founded in 1964.

Robert Fleming has been directing Tomintoul's four tall, high-flowing pot stills for over 20 years. As a fourth-generation master distiller, the distiller has significantly shaped the extremely soft, malty-floral Tomintoul character - and created accessible “gentle drams” that are award-winning and inexpensive at the same time.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Tomintoul Peated tastes like

  • Nose: sweet with aromas of soot and ash, campfire smoke and ginger biscuits are present, followed by ground coffee and smoked meat
  • Palate: at the beginning roasted hazelnuts, then smoked ham and toffee with wheat pastries, peat smoke and licorice - behind it citrus peels
  • Finish: long in the finish - nutty and smoky, the coffee again, with paprika, roasted pecans and soft spicy tones
