Portrait: What makes the Tomintoul 10 year old special

It is considered one of the smoothest whiskies on Scottish Speyside: Tomintoul is equally popular with beginners and as a relaxed after-work dram. The single malt from the picturesque Cairngorms National Park has been produced using traditional methods since the distillery was founded in 1964.

Robert Fleming has been directing Tomintoul's four tall, high-flowing pot stills for over 20 years. As a fourth-generation master distiller, the distiller has significantly shaped the extremely soft, malty-floral Tomintoul character - and created accessible “gentle drams” that are award-winning and inexpensive at the same time.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Tomintoul 10 year old tastes like

  • Nose: Citrus fruits and sweet toffee - juicy raisins in the background
  • Palate: creamy with a pleasant sweetness and a soft spice - light oak tones
  • Finish: long in the finish - again the balance of sweet and spicy notes
