Portrait: What makes the Tullibardine 228 Burgundy Cask Finish special
Imagine: a Scottish single malt goes on a European tour and stops in Burgundy – that's exactly what the Tullibardine 228 Burgundy Cask Finish is all about. This whisky comes from the small village of Blackford, where good water has bubbled through the Highlands for centuries. As early as 1488, a certain James IV stopped there on his way to his coronation – to buy beer! Whisky came later, but the good water remained.
Tullibardine is one of Scotland's few independent distilleries today and is an expert in the art of cask finishing. And this is where France comes into play: After maturing in classic oak casks, the 228 gets a very special upgrade - 12 months in red wine casks from Château de Chassagne-Montrachet. Yes, that's right, fine Burgundy meets robust Scots. A combination as elegant as a kilt and silk scarf.
The name "228" doesn't stand for a secret formula, but for the cask volume - 228 liters of the finest French wines that have left their mark in the wood. The ruby-red color? No tricks, no additives - this is true cask magic!
Whether as a gift, a conversation piece, or simply as a companion for a quiet evening: Tullibardine 228 is a whisky with a global perspective, a French touch, and a Scottish heart. Santé? Slàinte? Ideally both.
A balanced, fruit-forward single malt with a fine Burgundy finish. The maturation in red wine casks ensures a characteristic color and a complex play of aromas - a whisky with a unique profile and French influence.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Tullibardine 228 Burgundy Cask Finish tastes like
- Nose: fruity and elegant - distinct aromas of red berries, cherries and a hint of grape, combined with vanilla, honey and a light hint of oak - a gentle, wine-like scent that reflects the maturation in the Burgundy cask
- Palate: soft and balanced with fruity depth - notes of red fruits, some plum and sweet malt are present - the wine maturation brings a pleasant complexity, accompanied by light spice and subtle wood tones
- Finish: medium-long with a fruity finish - notes of dark fruit, delicate oak and a touch of dryness sounds harmonious

Ein sehr interessanter Malt . Beim 1. Genuss schmeckt er überaus gut. Allerdings beim weiteren Kosten wird er schnell eindimensional und somit etwas langweiliger.
