Cardhu is a classic Speyside single malt with fruit and smoke. The malt is a fairly straightforward example of a Speyside whisky with a mild peaty influence; its light character makes it a good starting point.
Tasting Notes: What Cardhu 12 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Distinct apple and pear, restrainedly sweet with some smoke; golden honey, light floral and cereal tones, some citrus
- Palate: Soft and round with a pleasant sweetness and peat; starts sweet and fresh, then lingering sweet smoke; cinnamon, brine and green apple
- Finish: A long, smoky finish, the fruit again, some peat and malt; honey and vanilla, lightly dry
