Talisker 10 year old

Profile: The Talisker 10 year old at a Glance

  • Talisker 10 year old - The stormy classic from the Isle of Skye with lots of smoke and pepper
  • The Scotch Single Malt for peat & Smoke fans
  • Talisker Single Malt Scotch Whisky - Made by the Sea
  • From the Isle of Skye, produced since 1830 - aged for 10 years in American oak barrels

Portrait: What makes the Talisker 10 year old special.

If whiskies had personalities, the Talisker 10 year old would probably be the rough sea dog with a weather-beaten face, telling you stories about raging storms and sea monsters by the fire - whether you like it or not...

This character is distilled on the Isle of Skye, one of the wildest and most beautiful corners of Scotland. Where sheep enjoy more freedom than most city dwellers, the Talisker Distillery has stood since 1830.

Its location directly by the sea is a clear indication: This isn't a cozy whisky. Talisker is a child of the Atlantic—born amidst rocks, fog, and salty sea spray. And that's how the distillery works: with traditional worm tubs, a generous portion of peat, and the firm belief that a decent dram should also tickle your nose now and again.

The Talisker 10 Year Old is the flagship of the house - the lighthouse in the range, so to speak, reliably pointing the way even in force 10 winds.

It's won multiple awards, is popular worldwide, and is often the whisky given to newcomers to Scotland to test whether they're ready for the "real" Highlands.

In short: If you drink Talisker, you don't need a sailing yacht - the storm comes straight into your glass. Life jacket optional.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Talisker 10 year old tastes like

  • Nose: Strong, maritime scent with a distinct smoky note - salty sea air meets pepper, iodine, and a hint of sweet maltiness - some citrus and damp wood in the background
  • Palate: Spicy and intense - black pepper, peat smoke, and a subtle sweetness form the backbone - accompanied by notes of oak, light caramel, and a hint of dried fruit
  • Finish: long, warm and smoky - persistent spice with a salty sea breeze and a slight tingle on the tongue
