Profile: What Makes Talisker 10 Year Old Special
The classic from Talisker: bottled at 10 years and the unusual strength of 45.8% ABV. This single malt cannot hide its proximity to the sea. It matures mainly in American oak with a share of refill wood and belongs to Diageo’s Classic Malts. In the sample it is easy to get to know.
Talisker is in Carbost on the west coast of the Isle of Skye and is the island’s only distillery. It was founded in 1830 by the brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. Triple distillation was used here until 1928; today Talisker belongs to Diageo.
Tasting Notes: What Talisker 10 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Dominated by powerful peat smoke and the saltiness of sea water, plus fresh oysters and citrus fruit
