Portrait: What makes the Islay Storm special

An Islay malt with almost acrid peat smoke, you can feel the proximity to the sea, rich in phenols.
The taste is very nice Peat sweetness, combined with a little iodine and sea salt with traces of vanilla and spices.
The finish is breathtakingly long with smoky waves.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Islay Storm tastes like

  • Nose: strong peat smoke, almost acrid, with salty sea spray and moist Canvas
  • Palate: mouth-filling with a strong sweet peat note, combined with iodine and sea salt - above all light hints of vanilla and spices
  • Finish: breathtakingly long finish, smoky waves, sea salt, iodine and leather are present

Erstaunlich gut

Was soll man schreiben? Ein Whisky ohne Altersangabe? Im Nosing und auch Tasting hat man das Gefühl, dass es sich hier um einen Laphroigh oder Ardbeg handelt. In jedem Fall ein starker Rauch, von dem man lange etwas hat. Trotz der nur 40% ein tolles Geschmackserlebnis ...

Liegt zwischen dem trockenen, strengen Laphroig und dem warmen, vollem Ardbeg.
Starker Antritt für 40%.
Deutliche maritime Note.
Die Beschreibung oben ist nachvollziehbar, dazu noch eine leichte (Chilli-)Schärfe.
Nicht perfekt ausbalanciert, aber gut.
Preis/Leistung sehr gut.

Sehr leckerer und ausgewogener Whisky (für einen Islay). Hat trotzdem den typischen Islay Charakter. In seiner Preisklasse hat er ein überragendes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis.
