Awarded Best Irish Single Malt Whiskey No Age Statement at the World Whisky Awards 2014! Connemara is a true pure pot still whiskey from the still-young Cooley distillery – located in the west of Ireland. Cooley was only founded in 1987, yet frequently surprises with its inventiveness. Unusually for Irish whiskeys, this malt was distilled from barley malted over a peat fire. The sample is ideal for an easy introduction to this smoky Irish style.
Tasting Notes: What Connemara Peated Tastes Like
- Nose: Peat smoke and spicy heather, then a light honeyed sweetness and oak
- Palate: Full and soft with malty notes, plus the peat smoke and honey again – barley and old leather in the background
- Finish: Long – the peat smoke, honey and oak linger for a long time
