How did Albert Michler survive two world wars and displacement?
The Albert Michler company was founded in 1863 in Buchsdorf, Silesia, and at its height supplied rum and liqueurs to the Austro-Hungarian imperial court and navy. The end of the Second World War, the displacement of the German-speaking population from Silesia, and the subsequent communist rule brought production at the founding site to a permanent end. Today's Albert Michler Distillery Int. Ltd., based in Bristol, is not a direct legal successor to the historic company, but is run by descendants of the founding family with this history firmly in mind.
