Portrait: What makes the Summer Edition 2026 - T. Sonthi special

Some bottles seem as if they've already experienced a little adventure before being opened - and the Summer Edition 2026 from T. Sonthi is exactly that kind of bottle. Holding it in your hand, you might almost think it had made a stopover on a pirate ship (voluntarily, of course).

Behind the name T. Sonthi is an independent bottler who specializes in bringing together exciting rum compositions from different regions of the world. Instead of distilling itself, the brand carefully selects characterful distillates and gives them their own signature through skillful maturation and refinement. A kind of curator of liquid stories – only without a museum and with a much better atmosphere.
For the Summer Edition 2026, the journey begins in the Caribbean, more precisely on Barbados and Jamaica. Two islands that stand not only for sun and sea, but also for a long and rich rum culture in the so-called English style. There, the distillates mature for several years in American oak barrels before making their way to Europe.
You could say: an intercontinental exchange where everyone wins. In Europe, the grand finale then takes place – the finishing in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This not only sounds elegant, but it's also a beautiful example of how traditional craftsmanship and modern creativity come together.
Here, the rum receives its finishing touch, a bespoke summer outfit, so to speak. With only 1,400 bottles produced worldwide, this edition is also strictly limited. Anyone who manages to snag one isn't just holding a bottle, but a small piece of rum history.
The striking design with tropical fruits and a pirate motif ensures that the bottle instantly evokes holiday feelings – without the sunburn. In short: This Summer Edition is less of a drink and more of a cheerful travelogue – just in liquid form.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Summer Edition 2026 - T. Sonthi tastes like

  • Nose: On the nose, a lively, exotic interplay of ripe pineapple and juicy mango is revealed. This fruity freshness is accompanied by a delicate, elegant vanilla note, which lends the bouquet additional depth and a pleasant warmth.

  • Palate: On the palate, the rum presents itself as soft and harmonious with a balanced structure. The sweetness of the Pedro Ximénez finish is clearly evident, bringing with it expressive notes of lychee and mild caramel. The exotic fruit accents remain ever-present, creating a well-rounded overall impression.
  • Finish: The aftertaste is long and balanced. The fruity impressions linger gently, accompanied by a subtle sweetness that gives the rum an elegant and pleasant conclusion.
