The Masskara Festival itself is a fascinating example of how people can draw strength and joy from crises. In 1980, after a severe economic crisis and a tragic shipwreck, the residents of Bacolod decided it was time for a smile – and they put it into practice with color, dance, and music. Since then, the festival has stood for boundless energy, and this very energy is also contained in every drop of Don Papa Masskara.

The Don Papa brand is deeply rooted in the island of Negros. There, particularly high-quality sugarcane thrives in fertile, volcanic soil – the basis for this rum, which is distilled from molasses, the so-called “black gold.” It is then aged in American oak barrels before being refined with a pot-still infusion of calamansi and Siling Labuyo, as well as local honey. The result is a spirit that not only meets premium standards but also embodies a piece of Philippine culture.
