What once began as a small delicatessen is now a globally recognized specialist in the maturation of exceptional Scotch whiskies: Gordon & MacPhail. Family-owned for four generations, the company combines its own barrels with distillates from over 100 Scottish distilleries. In 1968, George Urquhart—a key figure in the owner family—founded the Connoisseurs Choice series. At a time when single malts were mostly blended, he created a groundbreaking platform for independent bottlings. The series now includes over 2,000 whiskies from nearly 100 distilleries.
Each label tells the story of the bottling – with information on the cask type, vintage, alcohol content, bottling date, and tasting notes.

A Highlander with a tropical soul: This 2007 Fettercairn matured for a full 17 years in a first-fill bourbon barrel and reveals its particularly expressive side. Bottled on March 6, 2025, and limited to just 299 bottles, it combines sweet freshness with spicy depth.
Lime, ripe mango, and a hint of freshly ground black pepper harmonize on the nose and palate – an unusual yet masterfully balanced combination thanks to the cask selection. The influence of the bourbon cask also brings vanilla, caramel, and delicate oak spice into play.
