Portrait: What makes the Plantation Black Cask Barbados & Venezuela special
A real premium blended rum made from selected rum qualities from Barbados and Venezuela.
The selected Casks initially matured for several years in their home countries Barbados and Venezuela in former Bourbon Casks - then the selected Casks were blended together in France and then aged in small, newly burned Ferrand Casks in France.
The selected rum qualities were distilled and stored in Barbados in the West Indies Rum Distillery and in Venezuela in the Destileria Sofa.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Plantation Black Cask Barbados & Venezuela tastes like
- Nose: an intense and equally fresh start with aromas of ripe apples and bananas, plus soft honey, vanilla and fresh limes - then spicy-sweet aromas of Coconuts, coffee and nuts
- Palate: intense and full in taste with sweet notes of ripe plums, fresh pastries, nutmegs, tonka beans and caramel
- Finish: The finish is long and pleasantly sweet - carried by fruity notes, again the apples and bananas, paired with soft caramel - in the background coffee and roasted nuts
