Portrait: What makes the Savanna Origine 1870 special

La Réunion is a sugar cane paradise. Located on the shores of the Indian Ocean, the Savanna distillery has been producing rare, authentic rum by hand since 1870. Unusually for the French overseas departments, the distillery processes both fresh sugar cane juice and molasses. Free of any additives and not cold-filtered, Savanna Rums reveal multifaceted, authentic aromas that testify to the wild beauty of the island.
 
With the Savanna Origine 1870 the traditional distillers celebrate the origins of the distillery. Master Blender Thierry Grondin created the blend together with Savanna's cellar master from some of the distillery's rarest and oldest molasses rums: six different Rhums Traditionnels and Grand Arômes Rhums, aged between ten and 16 years in Cognac- and Port Wine Casks. In total, only 1,200 bottles are available.
