Profile: What Makes Brugal Extra Viejo Special
Brugal Extra Viejo is a blend of rums aged three to eight years in ex-bourbon casks in the Dominican Republic. It is a rich amber rum with a rounded woody spiciness, orange peel and hints of vanilla.
On the palate it offers lots of dark fruit, roasted cashew and cinnamon with overtones of vanilla and a long, balanced finish.
Tasting Notes: What Brugal Extra Viejo Tastes Like
- Nose: Oak barrel, toasted cereal, dried fruit and toasted nuts; the vanilla is very forward and dominates the first sniffs; also cocoa, ground coffee, coconut cream and cayenne pepper
- Palate: Spicy and buttered-toasty on entry, more honeyed in the midpalate; rounded woody spiciness, orange peel and hints of vanilla; lots of dark fruit, roasted cashew and cinnamon
