Portrait: What makes Don Papa Gayuma special
Don Papa Gayuma is a homage to the mystical Rituals of the Babaylans and shamans on Mount Kanlaon.
Gayuma - an ancient Filipino drink - means something like "love potion." It was used in traditional ceremonies to unite the forces of the spiritual and material worlds.
Inspired by these regional customs, a premium, limited edition rum was created.
Don Papa Gayuma is distilled on the island of Negros and undergoes a delicate smoking process after aging.
Don Papa Gayuma is made from 100% sugarcane molasses from the island of Negros and is distilled and aged in the unique volcanic climate at the foothills of Mount Kanlaon. It matures in former Bourbon Casks and is then further aged in former Whisky Casks on the Scottish island.
The dark, amber-colored rum impresses with a pronounced peat aroma, fine, soft vanilla notes, a nuance of orange peel, and strong cocoa aromas with a hint of clove and mint.
The intense smoky note and spicy finish make it a balanced yet complex rum.

- Palate: intensely warming and complex with sweet herbal smoke, the Don Papa Gayuma presents itself - followed by fresh mint, menthol, and Earl Grey notes, underscored by rich dark chocolate, spiced blood oranges, a hint of harmoniously balanced dried cinnamon, and a creamy vanilla butterscotch note
