For Elements of Islay bottlings, the Elixir Distillers select whiskys from all active and partly inactive Islay distilleries.
The bottlers compose their delicious elementary particles from Casks of different ages and sometimes from different distilleries.
The goal: to show the full range of island malt whiskys with their medicinal, peaty and maritime character.
The Islay periodic table is growing for lasting pleasure: From summer 2022, the limited small batch bottlings in apothecary bottles will also be joined by standard bottlings - in 700ml bottles!
The newly created core range consists of a blended malt trio.
With a strong 54.5%vol. The Elements of Islay Sherry Cask is bottled by alcohol content.
In first-fill and refill sherry butts and hogsheads, Islay single malt from the south coast marries with aromas of dried fruits and dark chocolate and Islay single malt from the north coast with spicy-maritime notes and lemon oil.
Nose: the scent of tobacco in an empty sandalwood cigar box - joined by the maritime-smoky aroma of smoked fish (Arbroath smokie), aromatic notes of lemon oil, ginger root and a hint of menthol
Palate: Lush, smoky and smooth, candied orange slices and chunks of candied ginger dipped in dark chocolate - Muscovado simple syrup provides a sticky, dark drizzle over ginger cakes with dates against a background of sweet peat smoke and dried fall fruit
Finish: Syrup toffee and smoky black tea sweetened with dark brown sugar - long, sweet, full and smoky-spicy finish
