For Elements of Islay bottlings, the Elixir Distillers select whiskys from all active and partly inactive Islay distilleries.
The bottlers compose their delicious elementary particles from Casks of different ages and sometimes from different distilleries.
The goal: to show the full range of island malt whiskys with their medicinal, peaty and maritime character.
The Islay periodic table is growing for lasting pleasure: From summer 2022, the limited small batch bottlings in apothecary bottles will also be joined by standard bottlings - in 700ml bottles!
The newly created core range consists of a blended malt trio.
The Elements of Islay Bourbon Cask matures in first-fill and refill bourbon casks and combines at 54.5% vol. Classic strong BBQ smoke from a south coast Islay distillery with more subtle, spicy flavors from the north coast.
Nose: sweet aromas from a sugar bowl with vanilla beans - with vanilla-amber scented candles, fresh tropical fruits and spicy coal smoke from the chimney
Palate: Powdered chocolate dusted cappuccino, warm brioche with custard and maple syrup-soaked tangy fruit unfold before a roaring peat fire - followed by a butter glaze on vanilla muffins
Finish: Sweet, creamy vanilla with lingering peat smoke
