Profile: What Makes Compañero Elixir Extra Special
Compañero Elixir Extra is a successful combination of rich, heavy Jamaican rum and the much rarer, somewhat lighter Panamanian rum. Selected fruit joins them, which makes Compañero into Compañero Elixir Extra: ripe oranges and fresh coconut. The chocolate note comes from the Panamanian rum, which matured in cocoa-spiced casks.
Behind Compañero stands 1423 World Class Spirits, a Danish company founded in 2008 by a group of passionate friends. The scent of this rum elixir already shows what it holds: a bouquet of cocoa, orange blossom and milk chocolate with a fine note of toasted oak.
Tasting Notes: What Compañero Elixir Extra Tastes Like
- Nose: Soft aromas of cocoa and dark chocolate, joined by rich aromas of ripe oranges and tropical fruit; orange blossom, milk chocolate and a hint of toasted oak
- Palate: Full, round and soft with distinct notes of dark chocolate and ripe oranges, plus some coconut and a hint of fresh herbs, above all mint; the sweetness of orange liqueur is well integrated
- Finish: Long and soft in the fruity finish – it lasts a very long time
