Portrait: What makes the Canerock special

Canerock is something like the laid-back globetrotter of spirits – one that has seen a lot, but never boasts about it. Its roots lie deep in Jamaica, a place where sugarcane not only grows but is practically part of the national identity. That's precisely where the story of this special blended rum begins.
The base for Canerock comes from two true heavyweights of Jamaican rum culture: the Clarendon Distillery and the Long Pond Distillery. Sounds a bit like a meeting of two old friends – and that's exactly how you can imagine it. Different characters, united in a common mission: to create something unique.
Some of the rums used were allowed to mature for up to three years in American oak barrels, while a small, particularly experienced portion even had five to ten years to reflect on life. And because stagnation is notoriously boring, about 10 to 15% of it receives a second maturation in ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Essentially a second educational path – only more stylish.

But Canerock wouldn't be Canerock if it stuck to classic aging methods. This is where the creative side comes into play: an infusion of vanilla pods from Madagascar, coconut meat from the Caribbean, and Jamaican spices like ginger. You could say that this isn't just a mix – it's a composition.
The result is a spirit that doesn't hide its origins, but presents them with a wink. Canerock combines traditional Jamaican rum craftsmanship with a touch of adventure. Not a stiff gentleman, but rather the charming type who stands barefoot on the beach and yet knows exactly what he's doing.

In short: Canerock is less "just a rum" and more a little journey – without having to pack a suitcase.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Canerock tastes like

  • Nose: Robust and complex with aromas of pastry, vanilla, coffee beans, dark chocolate, and coconut.

  • Palate: A sweet start with caramel, followed by light spice and a hint of raisin. Then spicier with allspice and noticeable oak tannins.

  • Finish: Medium-long, sweet and slightly spicy. Notes of poppy seed cake, dark cherries, plums and coconut, along with some mint, ginger and cloves.

Review with rating of 5 out of 5 stars
