Profile: What Makes Glendalough Calvados Finish Special
An elegant single grain whiskey made from 90% corn and 10% barley. First matured for three years and a day in former American oak bourbon casks, then finished for up to 12 months in former Calvados XO casks. These casks had previously held Calvados XO for at least six years, allowing them to enhance this Glendalough whiskey with distinctive aromas. This bottling is a single-cask release. Each cask is bottled individually, yielding around 366 bottles. Every single bottle displays both an individual bottle number and cask number on its label.
Tasting Notes: What Glendalough Calvados Finish Tastes Like
- Nose: Floral on the nose with aromas of vanilla, honey and orchard fruit
- Palate: Wonderful notes of butterscotch and toffee on the palate – plus notes of stewed apple and pear as well as a touch of cinnamon and honey
