Profile: What Makes Hendrick’s Lunar Gin Special
Hendrick’s Lunar Gin in a limited edition, developed under the influence of moonlight. Bored by the light of the sun, this gin prefers the subtle mood of moonlight, in which anything can happen. It is deeply floral and richly aromatic – a fascinating combination of refreshing and warming, designed to be shared and enjoyed on an evening when the sun sets and the moon charges the sky.
Master distiller Lesley Gracie had the idea on a moonlit evening while tending to botanicals in the hothouse: some flowers release their scent only in the light of the moon. Lunar is built around the aromas of night-scented flowers, exotic spices and warm citrus oils – a feeling like a warm evening garden under the moon. This limited gin is developed under a waxing crescent moon and is meant for slow sipping, imaginative conversation and other contemplative pleasures.
As a signature serve Hendrick’s suggests the “Moonlight Buck”: Lunar with ginger ale, lemon juice and a cucumber garnish.
