Profile: What Makes Relicario Peated Finish Special
The Relicario Peated Finish is an aged Dominican rum from the Spanish-based Beveland Distillers that was finished in American oak barrels that previously held peated whisky. After five to ten years of ageing on the island the barrels were shipped to Speyside and matured there for a further six months in 250-litre American oak barrels.
The smoke integrates elegantly with the natural sweetness of the rum.
Tasting Notes: What Relicario Peated Finish Tastes Like
- Nose: Thick treacle, earthy vanilla and gentle sweet peat smoke with chocolate digestives and oily toasted nuts
- Palate: Soft and complex with notes of sweet molasses, honey, roasted nuts and subtle peat nuances; the smoky elements are elegantly integrated
