Profile: What Makes Glenrothes 12 Year Old Special
Glenrothes’ 12-year-old single malt whisky matured in selected former sherry casks. An elegant single malt with distinct notes of vanilla, ripe melons and cinnamon – a Glenrothes 12 in classic style: fruity and sweet, aged solely in sherry-seasoned oak casks.
The distillery is in Rothes in the heart of Speyside and has been producing since 1879. The brand became known for its vintage malts: with The Glenrothes Vintage 1979 the first vintage malt in Scotch whisky history reached the market in 1994.
Tasting Notes: What Glenrothes 12 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Light fragrance of banana and vanilla; mint, melon, honey and nut brittle, plus a fair bit of sherry with walnut and apple skins
- Palate: Banana, lemon and melon with a hint of cinnamon; soft and creamy, with more honey, melon, mint and nut brittle, vanilla bean and a hint of cinnamon and clove
