Profile: What Makes Ardmore Traditional Special
Ardmore’s Traditional in the 1-litre bottle is a double-cask-matured, peated single malt whisky, matured in ex-bourbon and quarter casks. It is first matured in American oak barrels and then finished in quarter casks.
It is clearly milder than the heavyweights of Islay such as Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Caol Ila.
Tasting Notes: What Ardmore Traditional Tastes Like
- Nose: Soft, spicy aromas, plus peat smoke; burnt sugar and toasted malt, apples and vanilla
- Palate: Soft and round, distinct peat and vanilla – then ripe fruit follows; the sweetness of vanilla and barley sugar blends with earthy peat and honeyed cereal
