Profile: What Makes GlenAllachie 12 Year Old Special
The GlenAllachie distillery, quite young by Scottish standards, was founded in 1967 and has been privately owned since 2017 – its three owners include none other than master distiller Billy Walker. The 12-year-old matures in a three-way combination of Pedro Ximénez sherry, oloroso sherry and virgin oak casks: the oloroso gives a dry, nutty base, the PX dark fruit richness, and the virgin oak spice and structure.
Tasting Notes: What GlenAllachie 12 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Butterscotch and honey are present, plus raisins and mocha in the background
- Palate: Mild honey and marzipan, distinctly ripe bananas and again butterscotch, raisins and notes of mocha
- Finish: Harmonious and soft in the finish – honey and bananas stay present for a long time

Toller Einstiegsmalt von GlenAllachie. Überfordert niemanden und mit 46 % abgefüllt.

Der Whisky wird von Jahrgang zu Jahrgang besser. Eine 2017 Abfüllung war noch etwas eckig, der hätte nur eine "3" von mir erhalten. Schöne Süße und Würze!
