Product information "AH. Riise Non Plus Ultra Black Edition"
For the Non Plus Ultra Black Edition, burned out barrels are used - so-called black barrels - by storing them in these barrels, the rum gets a very nice dark, almost black color.
Non Plus Ultra is today an expression for "the best" or "nothing better to follow" - in ancient times the words "Non Plus Ultra" were found on the pillars of Heracles around the end of the known world at the exit of the Mediterranean, the Strait of Gibraltar, to mark.
Non Plus Ultra served as a warning to seafarers not to continue their journey into this unknown world - Non Plus Ultra comes from Latin and in the correct translation means "no more"!

Only the best and oldest barrels, carefully selected and blinded by hand, find their way into this bottling.

Nose: elegantly spicy with aromas of cedar wood, vanilla, molasses and tobacco
Taste: rich and full in the taste - clearly again the tobacco and the vanilla, in addition to caramel and slightly spicy notes
Finish: long finish - very soft and elegant

Eher Likör als Rum

Tabak, Melasse, und Karamell sind, wie beworben, gut rauszuschmecken. Dem Rum fehlt allerdings meiner Meinung nach der Tiefgang. Er schmeckt extrem nach Melasse und erinnert damit eher an einen Likör als an einen echten Rum.
Für den Preis erwarte ich mehr Komplexität und mehr Aromen. Man bekommt das Gefühl nur für die schicke Flasche und den Fancy Namen zu bezahlen..

Nachdem ich soviel Positives über diesen Rum gelesen habe, musste ich ihn einfach in meine Sammlung aufnehmen.
Was soll ich sagen, er ist jeden Cent seines Preises wert!
Eine tolle Geschmacksexplosion am Gaumen...wunderbar weich und sehr aromatisch mit einem langen und intensiven "Nachbrenner".
