Profile: What Makes Botucal Planas Special
Botucal Planas has replaced the Blanco Reserve since summer 2017. Planas is a premium rum that is a blend of various distillates – distilled in the classic pot still and the column still. In this way light to heavy distillates are brought together very harmoniously. In addition, besides molasses, virgin sugar cane (sugar cane honey) is used as a raw material for distillation.
Behind the brand stands Destilerías Unidas S.A. (DUSA), founded in 1959 in the Venezuelan state of Lara at the foot of the Andes. Hacienda Botucal on the edge of the Terepaima National Park belongs to the company grounds. In Germany and some other countries the rum has been sold under the name Botucal since March 2012.
Planas is a white rum that lacks the alcoholic bite otherwise known from white rum: very soft, almost creamy, with tropical fruit and a pleasantly restrained sweetness. It works well for mixing but can also be enjoyed neat.
Tasting Notes: What Botucal Planas Tastes Like
- Nose: Sweet and fruity with aromas of ripe coconut and roasted coffee beans; plus sweet caramel, sugar cane juice, fresh coconut flakes and citrus fruit
- Palate: Very soft, almost creamy on the palate with light notes of tropical fruit and cocoa
- Finish: Soft with a pleasantly restrained sweetness, delicate and without the alcoholic bite otherwise known from white rum

Guter und starker Rum.

Fruchtiger Rum, im Charakter einem weißen Rhum Agricole schon ähnlich. Sehr schön für Cocktails. Ich habe damit meinen Johannisbeerlikör angesetzt, das Ergebnis ist fantastisch.
