Profile: What Makes Dos Maderas Luxus Special
Following the naming convention of the other Dos Maderas qualities, this rum should really be called 10+5. Rum casks from Barbados and Guyana first mature for ten years in their respective home countries, then these casks are married together and aged for a further five years in Palo Cortado's Don Guido Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Only 5,000 bottles of the “Luxus” are filled each year.
Tasting Notes: What Dos Maderas Luxus Tastes Like
- Nose: Vanilla, molasses and fragrant dried fruit throughout
- Palate: Almost unbelievably rich and soft – reminiscent of wine at first, then notes of molasses, allspice and roasted coffee – the fruit and vanilla again
- Finish: Endlessly long, very soft finish
