Profile: What Makes Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair Special
“Stiùireadair” is Gaelic and means “helmsman” – and this helmsman has always been found on Bunnahabhain’s bottles. Stiùireadair is an Islay single malt whisky with a large share of whisky from former sherry casks and pays homage to the distillery’s coast on the north-east of Islay – leaning towards coastal malt.
Tasting Notes: What Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair Tastes Like
- Nose: Juicy dried fruit, caramel and sweet vanilla; dried figs, raisins and roasted nuts
- Palate: Creamy and soft with distinct notes of nuts, mild spice and a good portion of sea salt; cinnamon and black pepper
