Profile: What Makes Hyde No. 5 The Áras Cask Special
An Irish single grain whiskey aged six years, finished in ex-Burgundy wine casks. The finish in casks that previously held Burgundy wine imparts a distinct sweetness to the whiskey. The sample makes it easy to get to know.
Black grape, blackberry, dry-roasted spices and cocoa show how well judged the six-month finish is.
