Profile: The Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition at a Glance
- Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition – When the Master himself gets involved
- First matured in former bourbon casks, then in Oloroso sherry casks
- Glenfiddich – the “Valley of the Stag” – Single Malt from Dufftown, Speyside – family-owned since 1887 and still today
- Created by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman – Complex in flavor – ripe plums and dark cherries are present
Portrait: What makes the Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition special.
If the “Malt Master's Edition” brings to mind a secret circle of whisky wizards, is... not entirely wrong. Because with the Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition, the Malt Master – the head of flavors – has personally taken creative control. And you can taste it. (But don't worry, we're not talking about flavor yet.)
Glenfiddich is, so to speak, the pop star among single malts: world-famous, steeped in tradition, and yet open to innovation. The distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, has been producing since 1887, and if you're wondering why Glenfiddich can be found in almost every bar in the world today, the answer is simple: they were fast, good, and incredibly clever at marketing.
The Malt Master's Edition stands out from the classic range because it receives an additional finish in sherry casks – like a tailor-made suit with a silk lining. This was the idea of Brian Kinsman, the current Malt Master, who apparently thought, "There's more to it."
And so a very special Glenfiddich was created – one that is both classic and creative. The Malt Master was allowed to experiment, and everyone else can now share in the rewards.
In short: The Malt Master's Edition is like a director's cut for whisky lovers – a bit more exclusive, a bit more refined, and with the master's signature touch. Without any cape, but with plenty of style.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition tastes like
- Nose: elegant and fruity - aromas of ripe apples, plums, cherries, and sweet malt meet vanilla, spices, and a subtle sherry note - slightly nutty with a hint of oak in the background
- Palate: full-bodied and balanced - sweet dried fruits, toffee, and honey combine with dark chocolate, a hint of cinnamon, and delicate oak spice. The sherry cask aging adds depth and a silky texture
- Finish: medium to long, soft and warm - gentle spices, subtle sweetness, and a hint of oak linger pleasantly on the palate
