Profile: What Makes Finlaggan Port Finished Special
As with all bottlings under the Finlaggan name, the Islay distillery unfortunately cannot be named here. A small-batch bottling of an Islay single malt whisky, finished in ex-port casks. The port finish brings a wine-like sweetness to the island’s maritime peat smoke. The sample makes it easy to get to know.
Tasting Notes: What Finlaggan Port Finished Tastes Like
- Nose: Sweet peat smoke, smoked ham and ripe summer fruit
- Palate: The sweet peat smoke increases – fruity notes of raspberries and strawberries; the port finish takes hold, the peat pushes back
