Spanish oloroso sherry casks were home to this Kavalan single malt whisky. It matures exclusively in these casks, which are otherwise reserved for the cask-strength Solist bottlings, and is reduced to 46% ABV with Kavalan spring water.
Tasting Notes: What Kavalan Sherry Oak Tastes Like
- Nose: Complex with many aromas of dried fruit, plus nuts and spice – a little marzipan and vanilla; dried apricot with subtle spice, dark chocolate and white pepper
- Palate: Rich and oily – the dried fruit and the spices again, plus a fine note of coffee; clean and complex with layers of dried fruit, nuttiness and spice; cocoa, apricot, nutmeg and almond

Zweifelsohne ein guter Whisky - aber meinen Geschmack hat er leider nicht getroffen. Wo man aufgrund der Farbe und des Fasses eine Sherrybombe erwarten könnte, erhält man einen ziemlich herben und äußerst gewürzlastigen Whisky. Für denjenigen der so etwas mag, sicherlich ein guter Tropfen.
