Profile: What Makes Hazelburn 10 Year Old Special
The successor to Hazelburn’s 8-year-old single malt, matured in ex-bourbon casks. Hazelburn is triple distilled at Springbank in Campbeltown. The sample makes it easy to get to know.
The whisky is light and delicate: sweet and tropical on the nose, on the palate sweet and savoury notes come together.
Tasting Notes: What Hazelburn 10 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Stewed pears and baked apples, then honey and fudge follow; baked pineapple, lemon sherbet, honeycomb and dried orange peel
- Palate: Rich with distinct vanilla and honey, followed by liquorice and a fresh note; green apples with a slight vegetal quality, pastel de nata and custard creams; milk chocolate and tropical fruit such as mango and papaya
- Finish: Creamy, distinctly recalling milk chocolate, oily and creamy; a subtle earthiness with hints of salted caramel, ginger, toasted coconut and a mineral note
