Portrait: What makes the The Spice Tree Compass Box special
The Spice Tree is a wonderfully spicy, rich vatted malt Whisky from various Highland distilleries - only distilleries from the northern Highlands are represented, mainly from the town Brora.
The first maturation takes place in a mix of first-fill and refill American oak Casks.
The difference makes the second maturation, this time no internal staves are used like the first Spice Tree, but heavily toasted barrel ends made of French oak. The base and lid of the barrels give off a distinctive flavor profile to the whisky due to the strong roasting. The second maturation lasts two years.

Tasting Notes: This is how The Spice Tree Compass Box tastes like
- Nose: fragrant aromas of dried herbs, plus ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg - behind it oak and vanilla
- Palate: full and round in taste - a slight sweetness of toffee and vanilla, then the herbs again, plus ginger, cloves and nutty tones
- Finish: long in the finish - very spicy with light vanilla and oak notes
