The GlenDronach 12 year old is a classic Highland single malt Scotch whisky and is considered the flagship of a distillery that has stood for sherry-aged whiskies of particular depth and strength of character since 1826. The GlenDronach Distillery is located near Huntly in the Eastern Highlands of Scotland and is one of the most traditional distilleries in the country.
Founded by James Allardice, GlenDronach was one of the first distilleries to specialize in maturation in former sherry casks - a style that is consistently maintained to this day. The GlenDronach 12 Year Old matured exclusively in a combination of Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and is bottled without added color - in keeping with the traditional craftsmanship for which the distillery stands.
Production is largely done by hand, including one of the last wooden washbacks in Scotland. GlenDronach is known for its lush, powerful whiskies with a pronounced sherry influence, securing a firm place in the hearts of whisky lovers worldwide.

- Nose: Soft and inviting with distinct sherry aromas - ripe dark fruits such as raisins and plums meet sweet honey, toffee, and a hint of vanilla - in the background, fine oak spice, a hint of chocolate, and subtly roasted nuts
- Palate: Full-bodied and round with a strong sherry influence - notes of dried fruits, sweet spice cake, and dark caramel characterize the profile - accompanied by nuances of orange peel, Nutmeg and a pleasant oak note that adds structure and depth

Top Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Der 12 jährige durfte ausschließlich in Exsherryfässern reifen und das schmeckt man. Eine Fruchtbombe.

Man kann bei Glendronach wenig falsch machen, wenn man sherrylastige Whiskys mag. Der 12-jährige duftet, schmeckt und verbindet im Gespräch. Die älteren Jahrgänge haben inzwischen die Flucht auf die Leiter ergriffen. Dennoch eine gute Empfehlung.
