The barley is peated at Baird’s Malting in Inverness, and the malt is then distilled and matured in Bangalore. In the sample it is easy to get to know.

Tasting Notes: What Amrut Peated Tastes Like
- Nose: Sweet, distinct smoked ham, smoke and sweet peat – plus malt and some caramel; unusually dry peat, like the peat reek absorbed by an old leather armchair, plus a hint of citrus
- Palate: Smoke and peat are still present, plus intense fruity notes and malt; first an embrace of molassed sugar, then peat that grows more forceful, drier and spicier
- Finish: Medium-length finish with peat and fruit; butterscotch and vanilla wrap around the phenols for a clear, comfortable finale
