An “Ileach” is a resident of Islay - the island, which for friends of the peat fraction is the holy grail of the whiskey world. And one thing is certain: this whiskey comes from Islay. The distillery will not be revealed. Lagavulin, Caol Ila, and Laphoraig, among others, are among the common suspects that are often used in guesswork.
Honestly, we don't know either. But we would like to add an exciting thought to the puzzle: what if the same distillery hadn't always been behind the name "The Ileach" over the years? Maybe not very likely, but still possible. The respective bottling would still be a single malt.
The best thing is to research intensively and taste The Ileach bottlings from each year to see if anything has changed. That would undoubtedly be a pleasure. Because "The Man from Islay" is a wonderful whiskey. Powerful and lush. No wonder that he won gold years ago at the International Wine & Spirit Competition, an annual event comparable to the Academy Awards.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Ileach tastes
- Aroma: Rich peat flavors with fresh herbs, damp oak and grass
- Taste: Malty notes with a lot of peat and a peppery spice - with tannins, vanilla and traces of ripe fruit. The body is quite firm and almost oily.
- Aftertaste: Pleasantly long, clear smoke, but also malt and iodine in the finish

Ein super Islay-Whisky zum unschlagbaren Preis, da muss man zugreifen

Guter Whisky mit etwas strengem Abgang. Schade, denn geschmacklich sehr gut. Er kann leider mit z.B. Lagavulin nicht mithalten.

Man merkt schon, dass er von Islay kommt, allerdings hat er noch einen speziellen Unterton, den ich nicht näher definieren kann. Da ist nicht nur Rauch. Ein solider Malt.
