Portrait: What makes the Glenfiddich 15 year old - Our Solera Fifteen special

This 15-year-old Speyside malt is based on that of The solera process known from Sherry production is first stored in three different types of barrels before they are all blended together in one Solera Cask.
Only half of this Solera Cask is bottled, the other half remains in the barrel and is refilled with a new batch.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Glenfiddich 15 year old - Our Solera Fifteen tastes like

  • Nose: spicy aromas, honey and ripe fruits, some clove
  • Palate: full body, very fruity, vanilla notes and spices again, very soft
  • Finish: long finish, the vanilla and some oak come back

Schon in der Nase eine kleine Offenbarung, auf der Zunge sehr schön ausgewogen, fruchtig, mild mit einem angenehm weichen Abgang.
Für mich ein "must have" und auch einem Einsteiger zu empfehlen.

Von der Reifung im Solera-Verfahren hatte ich mir geschmacklich mehr versprochen. Schwerer als der Standard-Glenfiddich, aber ohne besondere Akzente.
