Profile: What Makes Yamazaki 12 Year Old Special
The single malt Yamazaki is the first malt ever produced and bottled in Japan and the flagship of the Suntory group. Company founder Shinjiro Torii (1879–1962) put his whole heart into developing Japanese whisky-making; in 1923 he founded the Yamazaki distillery. The 12-year-old combines whiskies from three kinds of wood – American, Spanish and Japanese oak. The malt whisky has a full body with pleasant oak tones.
Tasting Notes: What Yamazaki 12 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Elegantly floral, with lychee, spring blossoms, peach, pineapple and grapefruit; plus clove, candied orange, vanilla and Mizunara oak
- Palate: Silky, with honey, soft spice, crystallised pineapple, barley sugar, lemon and orange; yellow plum, peach and apricot, then vanilla cream, malt and toasted hazelnuts
- Finish: Pleasantly soft and complex – the spices echo on for a long time while sweet citrus and honey notes come and go

Super Whisky der Japaner
Sehr ausgewogen, Süss, leichte Vanille, Honig, Feige, Datteln, Citrus, Minze, leichte Eiche, weicher Antritt, angenehmes Mundgefühl, langer Abgang. Eine bleibende frische im Gaumen und Zunge. Sehr guter Whisky! Preis Leistung finde ich okey.
