Gold of Mauritius
Frédéric Bestel's family has lived on Mauritius since the year 1800, originally hailing from France's Champagne-Ardennes region. After his father spent years working with spices and liqueurs, Frédéric himself first developed a successful lychee liqueur - the inspiration for the name of his company Litchquor, which he founded in Pamplemousses in 2012. As an independent blender with no distillery of its own, Litchquor selects the finest distillates from various island distilleries and composes the Gold of Mauritius range from them, with the first bottling matured in former South African port casks, the wood then re-charred - a technical detail that gives the rum its characteristic depth.

Who is behind Gold of Mauritius?
Frédéric Bestel, whose family has lived on Mauritius since 1800, founded the company Litchquor in 2012 - named after his first successful product, a lychee liqueur. Litchquor operates no distillery of its own, instead selecting the island's finest distillates as an independent blender.
What does Gold of Mauritius have to do with Mauritius Rom Club?
Both brands come from the same house, Litchquor Ltd. While Mauritius Rom Club is designed as an entry-level line, Gold of Mauritius positions itself as a premium range with more elaborate cask maturation.

Taste: Full-bodied and darkly sweet with caramel, dried fruit and a woody depth from port cask maturation.
