It was then that this traditional Scottish distillery began presenting a special single malt every year: the Glenfarclas Christmas Malt. Its 30th anniversary now offers a truly special reason to celebrate—and not just for whisky fans who are already eagerly looking forward to the holiday season.
The 2016/2026 anniversary edition was distilled in December 2016 and subsequently matured in select first-fill ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at a robust 50.3% ABV, this strictly limited, individually numbered release—created exclusively for the German market—is a genuine collector’s item. If you are still searching for the perfect Christmas gift, this is well worth a closer look; after all, there’s no rule saying you have to give a pair of socks!
A particularly lovely touch: for its 30th anniversary, Glenfarclas returns to its roots. While the Christmas Malts of recent years were released in brown glass bottles, this anniversary edition makes a return to the original clear glass bottle.
This also allows the dark color imparted by the first-fill sherry casks to be showcased in a visually striking way—a little piece of whisky history in festive attire.
Glenfarclas is based at the foot of the majestic Ben Rinnes in Scotland’s Speyside region.
