Edradour No. 2 – 8 Year Old – 1st-fill Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hogsheads – Anniversary Release: Scottish tradition meets French wine culture.
Eight years of maturation, four decades of passion for whisky, and a cask that once held one of France’s most celebrated red wines—the Edradour No. 2 Anniversary Release is certainly no ordinary birthday guest. It represents a meeting of Scottish craftsmanship and French wine culture—an encounter that makes you wonder why whisky and wine didn’t start celebrating together much sooner.
This single malt hails from the Scottish Highlands—specifically, from the Edradour distillery. Founded in 1825, this historic establishment ranks among the smallest traditional whisky distilleries in Scotland. Rather than striving for industrial scale, Edradour focuses on a distinct character and a long-standing heritage of artisanal whisky production. It goes to show that you don’t need to be big to make a lasting impression.
This anniversary bottling is closely linked to Andrew Symington. In 1986, he purchased his very first whisky cask, laying the foundation for an impressive career in the industry.
Today, his name is synonymous with both the independent bottler Signatory Vintage and the Edradour Distillery. Four decades of passion for whisky offer a great reason to celebrate—and, quite possibly, an excellent excuse to slip away into the cask cellar once again.
The whisky was distilled in 2018 at the Edradour No. 2 expansion. It spent its entire eight-year maturation period in first-fill Châteauneuf-du-Pape hogsheads. These oak casks, sourced from the world of the renowned red wine from France’s Rhône Valley, lend the bottling a distinct, wine-influenced character. "First-fill" means that the casks are being used to mature whisky for the very first time—giving them one grand starring role before they are eventually retired.
The "Anniversary Release 2026" was bottled at a robust 57.1% ABV. Presented in a high-quality black gift tin and featuring a soft-pink label, it makes for an elegant appearance—with a subtle, playful wink.
Edradour No. 2 Anniversary Release – matured for eight years, celebrating 40 years of whisky history, and featuring the influence of French cask tradition.
