The 15 Year Old is something special in its own right. Inspired by sherry and Madeira production, Glenfiddich introduced the Solera process to the whisky world in 1998. Whiskies from European sherry casks, American bourbon casks and new oak casks are married in a large Oregon pine Solera vat that is never more than half emptied. Every bottling therefore carries a part of all the ones before it, a kind of liquid family memory. The result is a layered, smooth single malt with honey, dried fruit and warm spice.
The 5 cl miniature of Glenfiddich 18 Year Old shows the house's more mature side: Oloroso sherry casks, baked apple and robust oak. The tumbler bearing the Glenfiddich logo means both can go straight into the glass. Everything comes in the festive deep green box with golden illustrations. Glenfiddich 15 Year Old and Glenfiddich 18 Year Old are also available individually in full-size bottles.
