But it's anything but. Edradour lies hidden in the eastern Highlands, near Pitlochry, surrounded by green hills, sheep, and a good dose of Scottish serenity.
Founded in the 19th century and long known as one of Scotland's smallest traditional distilleries, Edradour remains the antithesis of mass production. Here, they still work with small stills, manageable quantities, and plenty of patience.
While elsewhere efficiency charts are being optimized, here they prefer to take their time – a concept that works remarkably well. This single cask was distilled in September 2015. Ten years later, in October 2025, the time had come: cask number 314 – a first-fill Oloroso Sherry Butt – was allowed to show what it was capable of.
For ten years, this one cask had been solely responsible. No marriage, no blend, no safety net. Single cask means: what's in it, stays in it. And when it's empty, it's history. The whisky was bottled by Signatory Vintage, an independent bottler with cult status.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Edradour 10 year old 2015/2025 1st-fill Oloroso Sherry Butt #314 Signatory tastes like

• Nose: Dense sherry aromas rise immediately - dark dried fruits like raisins and dates, along with fig bread and a hint of plum jam. All of this is accompanied by roasted nuts, some dark chocolate, and spicy oak. With a little time, leather, tobacco leaf, and a hint of orange zest emerge. A malty sweetness lingers in the background, reminiscent of caramel and toasted almonds.

• Palate: Powerful and full-bodied on the tongue. Again, plenty of dark fruit - raisins, black cherries, and stewed plums - paired with toffee and spicy sherry influence. The oak adds structure with notes of cinnamon, clove, and a touch of nutmeg. These are joined by dark chocolate and roasted hazelnuts. Despite its intensity, it feels balanced, with a beautiful harmony between sweetness and spicy depth.

• Finish: Long and warming. The dried fruit fades slowly, making way for spicy oak aromas, cocoa, and a hint of espresso. A slightly dry, nutty note lingers pleasantly on the palate, accompanied by a subtle spiciness. A lingering aftertaste that makes you want another sip.
