Welcome to Kilchoman, the small but very proud distillery at the western end of the Scottish island of Islay – where there are more sheep than people and the wind always blows from the front. Since 2005, the peat has been distilled here on a former farm. And what makes it special? At Kilchoman, whisky isn't just made – it's where whisky is born, raised, and brought to maturity – all right here on site.

The 100% Islay series is the distillery's passion project. From the first stalk of barley to the final bottling, everything truly happens on Islay – no buying, no outsourcing, no excuses. For the 15th edition, Kilchoman used barley from the 2014 and 2015 harvests, matured it in 54 ex-bourbon casks for at least nine years, and bottled the result at a respectful 50% abv. So: no half measures.

As Scotland's only Single Farm Single Malt range, 100% Islay isn't just a whisky, it's a clear statement: "If you're going to go island, do it right." And so, every bottle contains a piece of Islay – with wind, rain, pride, and a good portion of craftsmanship.

Oh yes, the barley varieties are called Concerto and Publican – which sounds either like a duet in a chamber orchestra or two old friends in a pub. Both fitting.

• Nose: A complex aroma with creamy vanilla and tropical fruits, underscored by fresh hay and toasted oak. This is joined by grassy aromas and a hint of salted butter - rural, lively, and typically Islay.
• Palate: Smoothly melting milk chocolate meets salted caramel, accompanied by fresh peat smoke. Candied citrus fruits, ripe pear, and lemon provide a fruity freshness, while fine notes of white pepper add subtle emphasis.
• Finish: Long-lasting with maritime peat smoke, accompanied by fresh fruit and a pleasant, honey-sweet depth. A harmonious finish that reflects Islay in its purest form.
